Marcelo de Lima Galvao, born in Brasilia, Brazil, is a computer scientist focusing on artificial intelligence and optimization for geodata visualization. He joined the Geoinformation Research Group at TU Wien as a PostDoc in 2022. Marcelo is interested in how people use maps to orient themselves and how computer graphics can improve the navigation experience with digital devices. His leading publications deal with schematization and generalization algorithms, map usability, and spatial knowledge acquisition. Currently, Marcelo has focused his research on Geographic-Aware Augmented Reality  (GeoAR) in order to develop new possibilities for geospatial data analysis and urban environment interaction.
