Bartosz Mazurkiewicz

Research Group Geoinformation

Bartosz Mazurkiewicz was born in Poznań, Poland, 1993. He started as a PhD student in the Geoinformation Research Group at the Vienna University of Technology (TU Wien) in 2019. Before coming to Vienna, he was working at the National Research Council Institute of Biometeorology in Florence, Italy, working on a database with information about floods in Niger. Bartosz received his M.Sc. in Geoinformation and Visualization at the University of Potsdam in Germany in 2017 and his B.Sc. in Geoinformatics at the Westfälische-Wilhems-Universität in Münster in 2015. During his Bachelor thesis he was focusing on Space Syntax in Navigation. The aim of his thesis was to investigate if Space Syntax methods can help us to analyze indoor navigation in case of visible, but not reachable spaces. For this purpose he analyzed two university buildings in Münster. During his Master thesis he was focusing on the automatic generation of training samples for optical remote sensing data using OpenStreetMap, text classification and region growing. His current research interests lie in Geographic Aware Augmented Reality, Navigation and Volunteered Geographic Information.
